La Crosse Technology is a brand that is definitely top-notch in the weather stations market. The company based in Wisconsin has been manufacturing weather stations since 1985. Their model of V10-TH is a great choice for people who want convenience, user-friendliness, and durability. The V10-TH looks very modern by its design and is very informative when you look at its console.

One good thing about V10-TH is that I bought this for my friend as a birthday gift who is a weather enthusiast. He called me a week later and thanked me because he wanted his kids to take up this hobby but he could not be successful in that. Owing to V10-TH’s simplicity and colorful design, his kids fell in love with it at first sight.

Of course, it is not a full-featured weather station and definitely not a piece for a professional. However, if you want something for a beginner or you do not want to take this up for a hobby, the V10-TH model is just your thing.

The Display Unit of La Crosse Technology V10-TH.

The tablet that La Crosse Technology produced has all the information that an average user may need. Thanks to its sensors, it shows indoor and outdoor temperatures and it keeps track of historical charts so that you can check them later.

On the top-left side of the display unit, there is the forecast section. This forecast section has a natural image changing in accordance with the current season. Then, as big as the forecast section, there is the outdoor temperature section. It displays both the outside temperature and the outside humidity level so you will have a better idea of what is the weather like. Lastly, it just shows the trends of outdoor humidity.

Then, below them, you have the outdoor records menu where you can see daily highs and lows. Right next to it, the indoor temperature and humidity levels are visible.

The bottom part is for the date and hour.

You can write and save messages on the display unit up to 20 characters. So, if you want to set a reminder for later, you can do it with the La Crosse Technology V10-TH tablet.

Forecast Icons

The V10-TH’s forecast is graphically satisfying as there are 6 dynamic weather forecast icons. The sensor does not measure the levels of precipitation but the device can be connected to NWS, National Weather Service. With this connection, you can download the precipitation levels as well as 8 more different icons.

Another thing that the forecast section includes is that the foliage on trees changes every season. It is just an extra but feels good.

Customization and Settings

The weather station employs many settings and customization options. One of the customization options is that you can set an alarm if the temperature goes beyond or beneath a level. This is quite useful as you can use it for preventing damage from frozen pipes or mold growth.

Settings are quite easy to tune. It is possible to adjust the background brightness or volume level of the alert.

Technical Details

The display unit is large enough to see from very far. It works with an A/C adapter but if you are going to take it with you when you are going somewhere or if a power outage occurs, 3 AAA Alkaline batteries need to be placed as a backup.

The outside sensor also works with batteries. 2 AA Alkaline batteries are needed and not included in the pack.

When you are on your battery power, you can see the remaining battery level on the display unit.

One thing about the connection is that you need to make sure that you are connected to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, not 5 GHz.

It is very lightweight with its 0.80 lbs. weight. Compared to the other weather stations, it can be considered that La Crosse Technology’s V10-TH is light as a feather.
